Dental Implants for Strong, Natural-Looking Smiles

We use Bicon® SHORT® implants—FDA-cleared, strong, and designed for beautiful gum health and confident chewing.

New training and equipment now available at Laguna Beach Dental Arts.

What makes Bicon different

Bicon’s SHORT® implants are engineered to work beautifully in areas with limited bone. Their 1.5° locking-taper connection forms a bacterially sealed implant-to-abutment fit and allows 360° abutment positioning for precise, aesthetic restorations. The plateau (“finned”) geometry is designed to promote cortical-like bone around the implant for stability and long-term bone preservation.

Why that matters for you: we can often avoid vital structures, reduce or eliminate grafting, and achieve natural papillae—minimizing the “black triangle” look many patients worry about.

Everything you need to know about Bicon’s SHORT® implants

Our implant approach

Your visit starts with a 3D evaluation and treatment plan tailored to your goals. When we place an implant, Bicon’s instrumentation allows us to harvest your own bone during site preparation so we can use native (autogenous) bone when a small graft is needed—reducing reliance on animal-derived materials. If a larger graft is indicated, we’ll discuss options, including Bicon’s synthetic SynthoGraft®. Either way, your dentist confirms the best route for safety and long-term success.

Are you a candidate?

Implants are a great option if you’re missing a single tooth, multiple teeth, or want a more secure alternative to a partial or denture. SHORT® implants are especially helpful when bone height is limited near the sinus or nerve canal. We’ll review your health history, bone levels, and bite to confirm the plan.

What to expect

Pearl is especially helpful for early tooth decay, changes in bone levels related to gum health, and recurrent decay around older fillings or crowns. It can also point out other small irregularities that deserve a closer clinical look.

Brush, floss, and keep up with cleanings—implants are cared for like natural teeth.

Aesthetics & gum health

Because of the implant’s connection and shoulder design, Bicon restorations support soft-tissue architecture for attractive gums and papillae. Patients often notice fewer dark spaces between teeth when compared with some conventional designs.

Materials & safety

  • Screwless locking-taper connection minimizes micro-movement and micro-gaps.
  • Bacterially sealed interface helps protect surrounding bone and gums.
  • Platform-switching heritage has been part of Bicon since the 1980s.
  • SHORT® options help avoid nerves and sinus cavities in many cases.

Do I always need a bone graft?
Not always. SHORT® implants may reduce or eliminate grafting. If a small graft is needed, we can often use your own bone collected during the osteotomy; for larger needs, synthetic options are available.

With good home care and professional maintenance, implants are a long-term solution. Your specific outlook depends on health, bite forces, and habits.

Yes—crowns are color-matched, and Bicon’s connection helps support healthy gum contours and papillae.

Most patients report minimal discomfort during and after placement. We’ll review comfort options and a step-by-step recovery plan.
